
Members of the Wisconsin jurisdiction collaborated with the brothers of Joppa Lodge in Kenosha to host a community Q&A session. This event provided an opportunity for individuals interested in Prince Hall Freemasonry to ask questions and learn more about our Fraternity.

Leaders from Joppa met with reporters from TMJ4 to discuss Joppa’s upcoming community events and highlighted the importance of Prince Hall Masonry in Kenosha.

Prince Hall was a prominent figure in Black history who petitioned the Grand Lodge of England for a charter after being denied membership by white masonic lodges. In 1775, he was granted a charter and created African Lodge No. 1, which later became known as Prince Hall Masonry.

The Grand Lodge of Wisconsin was formed on June 29, 1925, by the lodges chartered by the Grand Lodge of Illinois as follows: A convention of Prince Hall Masons was held in the City of Milwaukee, State of Wisconsin, on June 28, 1925. On June 29, 1925, the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Wisconsin was organized by: Grand Master John C. Ellis and a Committee of the Illinois Grand Lodge, under whose Jurisdiction the Wisconsin Lodges were then operating.
